The Consumer Protection Council (CPC) has come out with a report that beans is now preserved with deadly chemicals like the 2,2–dichlorovinyl dimethyl phosphate (DDVP) popularly known as Sniper amongst others types of chemicals.

Popular leaf used for the wrapping and cooking of bean pudding (Moi moi) leaf plant (Thaumatococcus daniellii) has been shown to prevent diseases.

Nigerian researchers have demonstrated how Moi moi leaf plant (Thaumatococcus danielli) protects against the complications of diabetes such as kidney damage as well as liver failure.

Food Safety Expert warn against use of Nylon to cook moi-moi and other foods.

A dietician and food expert, John Tehinse has warned Nigerians against cooking Moi-moi and other foods in nylons as it produced dioxins, a toxic substance that causes cancer.

Mr Tehinse gave the warning on Tuesday in Ilorin at an awareness campaign on food safety organised by the Food Safety Awareness Campaign Initiatives, funded by the European Union. In his lecture entitled:
