Almond is an edible  pink, pale yellow/golden sweet fleshy fruit with an oval shaped nut inside. It is related to the stone fruit like the cherry, plum and the peach.

The earliest varieties of almonds were found in China carried by traders down the ancient ‘silk road’ to Greece, Turkey and the middle East.
