Over N375million was released to feed 700,000 primary 1-3 school pupils in five states. Ogun, Oyo, Anambra, Ebonyi and Osun.
According to Mr Laolu Akande , Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to the President, office of the Vice President.
Said funds was released to Anambra, Oyo, Osun, Ogun and Ebonyi state to cover the feeding programme for 10days.
Mr Laolu Akande explained that N375,434,870 was paid to 7,909 cooks in total.
He explained further that ”
Anambra state received N 67,5million paid to 937 cooks this is to feed 96,489 schoolpupils in the state.
Ebonyi state received N115,218,600million paid to 1,466 cooks to feed 164,598 school pupils in the state.
Ogun state received N119,648,900million paid to 1,381cooks to feed 170,927 school pupils in the state.
Oyo state received N 72.2million paid to 1,437 cooks to feed 103,279 school pupils in the state.
Osun state received N 867,370 paid to 2,688 to feed 142,103 school pupils in the state.
However, the school feeding programme started in schools last week, but reports gathered shows that the food served to the pupils is not enough, and the school feeding programme has only started in Urban schools ,while the Rural schools haven’t started theirs.
During the exercise, pupils who participated in feeding programme, displayed some signs of excitement about the new development.
